Tout commence à l’été 2019, entre 2 concerts, par un break avec Victor Mechanik, le multi-instrumentiste de 28 ans qui accompagne Yarol aux claviers. Dans le coin de campagne où ils posent leurs sacs, une grange aménagée en studio leur fait de l’œil. En tête-à-tête dans cet espace isolé, ils partent en quête d’une écriture moins systématique, de schémas mélodiques moins convenus. En quelques jours naissent les versions brutes du morceau-titre « Hot Like Dynamite », de « Rio » et de « Chevrolet ». Au cours des mois suivants, toujours au même endroit, cette spontanéité donne naissance à « Bullet in the Head », « Crocodile », « Margarita », « The Detonator », puis à l’essentiel de l’album. Fidèle à son goût du métissage musical, Yarol s’amuse à mêler le rock et le funk, à rendre hommage au hard rock ou au rap, à fusionner new wave et sonorités africaines.

Lord Huron have an uncommon talent for creating songs that offer the very essence of what it is to be human - embracing wonder, finding love, fighting death, cherishing honour - while granting them an almost heroic beauty extracted from the mountains, valleys, forests, deserts and lakes that have blessed mankind with their beauty for ages. Ends of the Earth' opens the album with a spirited harmony that could rank alongside Robin Pecknold's best. First single 'Time to Run' may be idyllic folk with world music influences, but its hook is as radio-ready as anything off Peter Gabriel's iconic So or Paul Simon's Graceland.

John Wardle, alias Jah Wobble, came to fame in the late Seventies at the age of 20 as bass player for John Lydon’s first post-Sex Pistols outfit, Public Image Limited, following this with a series of collaborations with members of German avant gardists Can and U2 guitarist the Edge. He plays on today.He quit the biz and spent time in the Eighties driving trains on the London Underground. Happily, creativity won out and this show from 1992 is from one of a series of charity shows co-ordinated by New Musical Express at London’s Town & Country Club under the banner Viva Eight. Highlights include ‘Visions Of You’ from 1991’s classic ‘Rising Above Bedlam’ album, ‘How Much Are They?’ and the iconic ‘Invaders Of The Heart’ from which his group take their name. The performance includes percussion and exotic dancing, and is an audio-visual treat.
