Heavyweight roots vocal with crackin' dub version ...next wicked cut to Reality Souljahs 'My Eyes Can See' produced at Rolling Lion studio by Daniel Boyle. The late Cassey Man was part of Sugar Minotts Youth Promotion crew. All Tuff Scout 7" releases come in company hard card sleeve..nice.
Une belle production pour cette fin d'année ! Un Downtempo Riddim à la basse puissante qui accueil parfaitement le flow incisif de Saah Karim, merci Amoul Bayi RecordsAfter two 12’’ and an LP with the talented Gambian singer SAAH KARIM, Amoul Bayi Records, a label based in Dakar Senegal, continues this fruitful collaboration by releasing a new track entitled The Last Shall Be The First. SAAH KARIM is one of the most talented singers of the new African reggae scene. Coming from a family of Griots, music has always been second nature to him. He was nicknamed “The Lyrical Warrior” because of his flowing and incisive writing style. He masters the codes of Jamaican music and cultivates his own originality with his unique West African voice and committed lyrics reflecting the stakes of the African continent and of Humanity in general. There is a little story behind this song At Dour Festival 2019, under the Dub tent powered by the great Blackboard Jungle Sound System. Amoul Bayi Showcase is at the control. Fabyah, the selector/operator, is playing Mighty Redeemer, the hit track from Daba Makourejah's future album on an original and powerful riddim signed by Meekman. SAAH KARIM steps up on the version and begins an unknown song with militant lyrics and a catchy melody, sweeping the audience and his selector... An inevitable Pull Up follows! Among the dozens of unreleased songs by the Lyrical Warrior, The Last Shall Be The First had just found its riddim and will be sung on all other gigs of the summer tour. It is therefore with great pleasure that Amoul Bayi Rcds releases as a 7’’ (the first one in their catalog) this piece composed by MEEKMAN, mixed and dubbed by SAWAH. The young and talented artist/graphic designer Momo Diop signs the artwork of the record which will be officially released in vinyl and digital on all download platforms on December 11th.
Musically the LP is a fairly unique collection of percussive afrobeat funk; the arrangements are brass friendly, slick on the keys and framed with a rich resonant deep soul vocals, the record also feature a finest example of African Reggae Roots cut to vinyl : "Tell Me Why You Cry" . This Lp is unique collection of music which until now has remained out of sight of a wider audience. Check out standout cuts ''Mama Wam'' , ''Hankuri'' & ''You Don't Love Me No More''In addition to the original release the reissue will contain "a bonus seventh track". During the mastering process we found an early test pressing of the LP from 1978 with an extra track on it… we put the project on hold so as we could remake the lacquer for the first side to include the mystery track..
Great Keith Rowe production from mid 70s instrumental Jamaican funk reggae with 70s dub version of the rocksteady hit "Tonight"on the flip. Top one repress by great label Horus outta Uk. T
300 copies limited Two legendary Jamaican artists on a tuff rub a dub riddim produced by Viktorious. There´s actually a special story about this release. I (Erik, selector of Fast Forward Sound) was listening to this really awesome sound tape with Black Star Sound from the mid 80´s, a session where deejay Bruck Back aka Crock Back is truly on fire. He is riding riddims like Every Tongue Shall Tell in a truly unique and captivating style. On the same tape there´s a short snippet of Earl Cunningham singing a killer tune that I got kind of obsessed about. A tune that made me do a youtube pull up a serious number of times...As a selector and record collector I obviously started to look for the tune on record but it was nowhere to be found. So, I found Earl Cunningham online and asked him about it. And apparently the song was never recorded! So what else to do but to record it? And as you can hear Earl Cunningham didn´t dissapoint and delivered a killer vocal some 20+ years after he first sang the tune on the mighty Black Star Sound.Every tune needs a deejay part, so what else to do than to ask the other star from that Black Star session - the under recorded Bruck Back aka Crock Back (whos first release was on a 12" where he performs alongside the great Super Cat). He came up with a great tune about his own lyrical abilities - Lyrics Fiesta.
