Nice Coordinated Outfit High Pass Filter La Sape Nouvel Album scene avant garde Australie vinyle Dub Post Rock Montpellier

Nice Coordinated Outfit is a journey through history to a time before the internet and social media and before inner city gentrification, when Fitzroy was the beating heart of Australia's avant-garde music and culture. Musically, it showcases the band's incredible range from deep minimal dub to bizarre electronica with elements of shoegaze and experimental noise.

Back then, High Pass Filter were the kings of the Fitzroy underground. Dark, weird improvisers who aimed for something new each performance. Whilst electric guitars and rock n roll dominated Australian airwaves and stages, High Pass Filter were pioneering a sonic revolution in the shadows. The band's indefinable sound saw them sharing lineups with artists from hardcore and punk luminaries like Fugazi and The Boredoms and to dub heavyweights such as Lee Scratch Perry and The Mad Professor.

Dan Snaith's 27-track Fabriclive bounty just keeps on giving. Following the likes of "Face To Face" come two more outstanding dancefloor tracks. Rough around the edges, off-the-grid, visceral yet touching, "Hey Drum" hypnotises with an almost militant feel before suddenly switching into an outrageously uplifting breakdown while "The Truth" taps into the roots of Chicago with a footloose kickdrum and warm fluctuating synths. Both absolutely kill it - which you probably already knew anyway. Most of us have been counting down the day for this vinyl release since we first heard the Fabriclive mix.
They may have expanded their musical horizons in recent years, delivering albums packed with glossier productions, soulful songs and revivalist boogie gems, but it was with funk-fuelled, party-starting breakbeat workouts that they started their career. This seven inch single boasts two killer cuts from their 2005 debut album, Boogie Angst. A-side 'Money In The Bag (K&S Remix)' brilliantly joins the dots between cowbell-driven funk, squelchy 1980s electro and hip-hop, in the process delivering a timeless slab of dancefloor hedonism. 'C'mon People (7" Edit)' is more straightforward - but no less incendiary - slab of mid-noughties funk breaks goodness laden with ear-catching samples.
For the fifth anniversary of Buraka Som Sistema's 2016 farewell show in their hometown of Lisbon, Portugal - and the 15th anniversary of their debut EP - we're celebrating this important milestone by releasing 'Buraka 4 Ever', an album created from the recordings of this legendary concert where the band's most iconic songs were last performed in front of a roaring live audience.
Second volume of Jamaican doo wop & R&B records taken from the late 50s and early 60s. These records represent a period in which soundsystems were just starting to dominate the island, with Duke Reid and Sir Coxsone stepping up their rivalry by beginning to make and release their own records rather than rely on US imports for use in their dances. Many of these records are definitely more-or-less imitations of the American records, as the uniquely Jamaican ska sound was yet to take hold - however many of the future stars of ska, rocksteady and reggae were beginning to cut their teeth in the industry on these records, incl. Prince Buster, Derrick Harriott and more, and provide a unique view into the fledgling independent record industry culture in Jamaica that would prove to be unbelievably prolific and unparalleled for an island of it's size.
