DAWN PATROL Bring On The Good Times Legere Recordings Germany

"Bring On The Good Times" is the debut album by Dawn Patrol, a brand new Dutch collective led by the prolific producer, songwriter and musician Phil Martin (Jazzinvaders, AIFF, Martin & Garp) sets out to explore the essence of West Coast music, a late 70s Softrock spirit and European pop sensibility.

Sharing the love for the sound and spirit of late Seventies pop music, Phil Martin and his likeminded musician partners in crime Rik van der Ouw and Ruud van Halder plus vocalists Baer Traa and Lo 'Garp' van Gorp recorded ten songs celebrating a pure freshness in pop harmonies and melodies.

The band put the spirit of "Bring On The Good Times" in their own words:

John COLTRANENaima (Record Store Day RSD 2021)Major KeysThe Major Keys label takes classic album tracks and gives them the respect they deserve across their own 12" pressings. And few musicians deserve such special treatment as John Coltrane, who follows on from an early release on this imprint from Herbie Hancock. Now, the king known as Trane has his gorgeous 'Naima' served up in all its tender glory. On the flip is the much more uptempo and energetic 'My Favourite Things' with all its expressive and squealing trumpet leads and busy drums. Both come on this heavyweight slice of wax, exclusively for Record Store Day 2021.
The ‘Abroad EP’ catalogues a period of time spent travelling Japan in the spring of 2019. Throughout the course of the month-long trip, Rudy carried around a portable recorder, capturing various sounds that caught his ear. That collection of found sounds would eventually become the foundation for the EP, each track utilizing a handful of different recordings ranging from bird calls in Tokyo’s Yoyogi Park, to windchimes in the coastal town of Kawazu. The EP took a full year of patient, daily work to complete, during which time Rudy invited a diverse group of collaborators in to help finish the songs. Throughout the recording process, harp, saxophone, and violin parts were added to create a unique blend of organic and electronic sounds.

Working tirelessly as a session musician for countless German and International Jazz, Rock and Pop acts, Cress has also worked extensively as a Producer, most notably for Nina Hagen. Cress would also record a number of records as a solo artist, with his unique sensibility as a drummer given centre stage.MFM 038 features three deep percussive workouts from his 1983 solo album ‘Avanti’, a record which has been a long time favourite the label. With the tracks ’Moonwalk’, ‘Power Vein’ and ‘Sundance’ now finally available on a loud 12” pressing. The EP also features two direct detours into House music by Curt with alternate versions of the forward thinking drum track ‘Dschung Tek’. Released in 1991 under Curt’s ‘C.C’ moniker, ‘Dschung Tek’ has been another big favourite of the last few years at the label after a tip by way of their pal Tornado Wallace.
