Guitarist and Producer Godriguez (producer of Sampa the Great's “The Great Mixtape") marshalled together some of the best musicians of the new generation in Sydney: A head priest of the Cuban Ifa religion, the step-son of Australia’s greatest ever funk and soul musician, Australia's leading drummer in this new generation and a deeply emotionally gifted pianist from New Zealand. These disparate backgrounds culminate with incredibly sensitive musical and emotional connections to form GODTET.Godtet is back with his third LP, and one which he calls possibly the finest distillation of his sound yet. Across eight tracks he fuses sounds from around the world that show another organic evolution and draw on three years of gigging, playing and recording music. The record was made with no samples and was wholly improvised and is said to be the final part of a trilogy. The beats are dark and intense at times, but can just as easily be feather light and superbly spacious, such as on the gorgeous 'Sun.' Though these tracks are short, they really are very sweet.

Represencing was Joshua Abrams' second album back in 2012, and it is still a collection of superb avant-jazz. ❤The record is filled with deeply involving grooves, pulsing energies and his tracks are rich with a kaleidoscopic interplay of sensory perceptions that mangle space and time. The album';s centre piece was once again the guimbri, a North African bass lute which the artist first started to play during the late 90s after a trip to Morocco. It makes for a record with healing qualities as it empties your mind of everything and places you in the here and now, the twisting and turning of Joshua's amazing rhythms.

1967 descargas album by Peruvian percussionist Coco Lagos y Sus Orates, featuring Alfredo Linares, Charlie Palomares, Otto de Rojas, Mario Allison. This album was recorded following the success of the descarga sessions released by New York label Alegre Records. It includes a version of Cal Tjaders Mamblues and 'Brava pachanga', an original by the Father of Boogaloo, Joe Cuba, among many other stand-out tracks.Quality official reissue on 180g vinyl after years unavailable. Jazz saxophonist Tony Lavorgna, sometimes known as Captain Bad, recorded Chameleon with the St Thomas Jazz Quartet in 1982. The title track is a cover of Herbie Hancock's classic from Head Hunters, given a fresh lick on this superlative album of incredible renditions of long time favourites. Ray Charles' 'Georgia On My Mind', War's 'The World Is A Ghetto' and Dave Brubeck's 'Take The 'A' Train' all get a look in, given a soulful treatment which goes down very smooth indeed. On the strength of these, it's a shame the group never recorded more music together, covers or otherwise.
