Alfa Mist started out as a teen music maker by dabbling in hip-hop and grime and then went to college and taught himself piano. He self-released an album digitally that was picked up by YouTube's algorithm and rightfully suggested to millions of people who hadn't previously heard of it. Thankfully his newfound audience encouraged him to press his debut to wax and since then he has gone from strength to strength on multiple fronts. Nocturne followed and now gets repressed due to popular demand - it's a gorgeous mix of jazzy, hip-hop and broken beat.

Blue mode representing perfectly the Soul Jazz and Hammond Funk scene today, gets his name directly from one of Reuben Wilson’s album. Reuben Wilson one of the most prolific organist in the late 60’s early 70’s contributed to the spreading and recognition of this music ! Blue mode is a summary of all this musical legacy. This is the debut album from the Texan Black Pumas and quite rightly they’ve proudly named it after their very own funky selves. Produced in his home studio by Adrian Quesada. Drum roll please! A funky drummer sets the tone for the pure soul of Black Pumas. Precision steeled guitars add chops and breaks to prettify this smooth treacle soul. Primarily though it’s the vocals that sell it. They could sell radiators to hell. A diamond-toned voice flowers and commands at the front of the band. Grooving, chopping keyboards, soothing, smooth harmonious backing vocals.
