The re-appraisal of early Seefeel has been long overdue. We're not entirely sure why this hasn't happened before, but to put things into context this is the first time Ch-Vox has been available on vinyl since it debuted in 1996, sidling up alongside the band's other outings dating back to 1994, all of which came about through involvement with Sheffield and global electronic music institution, Warp Records.Ch-Vox actually landed on Rephlex, the imprint founded by Warp regular Richard D James, AKA Aphex Twin, and Grant Wilson-Claridge. Taking us further into the chill-out rooms, Sunday morning comedowns and midweek meditative moods of UK rave, in many ways Ch-Vox is more complex in concept than its predecessor, Succour, helping establish an early framework for what we now know as drone.

Since our first contact with NYC based producer Thavius Beck in 2018, he sent us over 100 unreleased tracks, or beats, as he calls them. 25 of them have been selected for releases on U-TRAX, good for over 2 hours of music, across this album and the Lovesick EP.Growing up in LA, Thavius Beck entered the hip-hop scene as member of Global Phlowtations, and released several solo albums under the Adlib moniker. In later years, he released five albums under his own name on labels like Mush, Big Dada and Plug Research, and also produced albums for artists like Saul Williams and K‑the‑I???, and did some remixing for amongst others Nine Inch Nails.Nowadays he combines making music with a career as a succesful certified Ableton and Bitwig trainer and as a music teacher at Berklee NYC.The tracks vary in style a lot, but what they have in common is that they either are moody – in U-TRAX lingo: deep - or they are drum heavy. The common denominator would probably be 'experimental/instrumental hip-hop', reminiscent of producers like Flying Lotus. People have tried all sorts of comparisons to pinpoint Thavius' sound, ranging from 'between DJ Shadow and Orbital' and 'a mix of Massive Attack and The Orb'. None of these are spot on, yet quite a few of these tracks feel like a happy marriage between hip-hop beats and techno sounds.Despite the fact that some tracks are 20 years old and have been made with widely different gear (one track was even made on a PlayStation 2), this selection sounds remarkably balanced, yet diverse.From the irresistible single 'Lovesick/Still Sick' to the dark and massive 'Birdsong' (that echoes the sound of his popular song 'Atmos'), and from the head-nodding 'Work!' to the soothing 'Reunited With The All' - if this collection showcases anything, it's Thavius' brilliant production and composing skills, as well as his wizard-level sampling techniques. The result is a luscious electronic music album with a broad appeal.Available on double 180 grams colored vinyl vinyl, comes in gatefold picture sleeve.

I feel it starts again,Why does it go on?Aujourd’hui les choses se sont accélérées, et, parodie de la vitesse, il se mit à pleuvoir.Par-là la perte d'un peu de soi, c'est la dérive progressive vers d'autres rivages.Mais le temps manque à celle dont la course, commencée il y a bien longtemps, ne sait plus comment s’arrêter.Déconstruis !C’est ce que la morale lui criait fût un temps, c’est ce que les principes bien ancrés ont connus dans l’esprit des indolents.Une fois les miettes éparpillées au sol et les habits maculés d’histoires, les folies sèchent et collent à la peau, puis font scintiller -sable sous le soleil d’été- de nouveaux fondements à la droite du cœur.Car contradictoire, la morale d’hier ne trouve plus sa place 𝘩𝘪𝘤 𝘦𝘵 𝘯𝘶𝘯𝘤 dans l’esprit des protagonistes,les promenades ont épuisé le vieux gardien du principe et de l’éthique : alité la journée, la nuit il fuit les regards de ceux qui penchent la tête par sa fenêtre pour le solliciter.« 𝘋𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢 𝘱𝘪𝘤𝘬 ? » propose un vendeur de souvenir à sa porte en présentant un panneau avec différentes offres.C’est ainsi que se trafique l’image et l’espoir, que se justifie le gagne-pain de celui que certains nomment « vendu ».Mais,celui qui le nomme ainsi,Peut-il vraiment dire « j’ai les yeux ouverts » ?Rêve-t-il même ou n’a-t-il pas au moins peur de ce que ce « vendu » lui fît, ne lui fît pas, en ou en deçà de ce qu’il estime être « la valeur des choses » ?De mauvaise foi en mauvaise foi, -nonchalance ? -déni ? et du haut de sa tour, il observe. Il prend sa lunette pour mieux juger mais tarde à comprendre… son point de vue est altéré et lui donne à voir un drôle de paradigme : miroir de sa considération, il se voit minuscule et la tête en bas. Il sursaute :- Ce n’est que moi. Je m’effraie dans ma condescendance, la jumelle à l’enversme rend rabougri : si près pourtant je semble si loin et colérique.Il n’est pas rare pour lui de se retrouver dans ce qu’il condamne.Mais voilà, muable, il accepte la condition du temps, et, tentant de comprendre l’éventualité d’un fait présent, englobant ici et là, impalpable imperceptible, affirme :- Rien ne sert de précipiter ce qui sera ou de ranimer ce qui était, il importe decomprendre son époque.𝘈𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘴 𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘥𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘮𝘦, 𝘧𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘶 𝘴𝘢𝘶𝘷𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘥𝘶 𝘴𝘰𝘪, 𝘭𝘶𝘪 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘥𝘦 𝘴𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘵𝘴 𝘥𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘺𝘭𝘦, 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘱𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘯 𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘳𝘴 𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘵.
