“For What You’ve Lost” is a heavily collaborative, musical journey sure to give his fans what they’ve been waiting for. This album is rooted in classic hip hop tradition as well as jazz, soul and funk while continuing to push musical boundaries into the future of the genre. Guest appearances ranging from the new soul heroes like Aloe Blacc (Stones Throw) and Noelle Scaggs (The Rebirth) and hip hop veterans like Gift of Gab (Blackalicious), and Count Bass D alongside new school MC’s like Rita J (All Natural) and Stro the 89th key (The Procussions) make this album both diverse and a spectrum of sound and culture. Quickly becoming one of the most sought after MC’s, this new album shows Raashan’s evolution and growth. As pitchfork media puts it, “Raashan Ahmad emerges as one of the West Coast’s premiere MC’s, his flow effortless and vocabulary expansive. He brings an everyman context to his rhymes making the mundane dramatic with a subtle righteousness and around-the-way likeability.”
Special bonus LP : guest by 20Syl (from Hocus Pocus), & remixes by J Boogie and Moar.

The wonderfully titled ''If The Worm Turns It Could Turn Ugly" is a suitably wiggly mix of playfully ominous sample alchemy presented by Dip Friso aka Grim Lusk aka Sunny Balm aka ½ Pussy Mothers. Flipping quickly between dubbed out samplescapes, wah-warbled chords, reversed drums, cut up vocals and a bell collage, the tracks are tripping over themselves to the front of the queue.Available cassette tape and digital download, limited run of 70 copies.
Touching Bass continue to prise open a distinct, exciting lane for themselves as a label home for forward-thinking, soulful music with the progressive second album (and third project) from Danish/Tanzanian trio, Athletic Progression — Jonas Cook (keys), Jonathan J. Ludvigsen (drums) and Justo Gambula (bass).'cloud high in dreams, but heavy in the air' sees the Aarhus-based band dive deeper into their intricately fused world of experimental, groove-based music. Recorded over the course of one week in Copenhagen in 2019, bringing together songs that had been marinating and evolving during their live shows, they finally felt ready to eternalise them in the studio. The rest of the album was written in in the studio, turning iphone memos of ideas from soundchecks into songs and improvising. The album serves as a time machine snapshotting processes and different times of Jonas, Justo and Jonathan's lives both personally and as a group, a current expression of past experiences. The album is mixed by Eric Lau (KOKOROKO, Yussef Dayes, Mansur Brown) and celebrates freedom and spontaneity at its core, beautifully capturing those playful moments where jams become songs. The title (which comes from Brother Portrait’s verse on “Extended Technique”) echoes that playfulness, while also contemplating on the realities of life and its important decisions.Sonic touchpoints include the space-leaning electronics of Brainfeeder’s Flying Lotus and Thundercat, the glowing dexterity of JD Beck & Domi and BadBadNotGood and jazz-fusion’s boundless nature, with rapper/poet Brother Portrait supplying the feels of London.Like all of our favourites they’re a band best experienced live, blessed with an uncanny ability to make three instruments sound fuller than most. As a result, they’re already familiar faces on Danish national television, have sold out multiple shows both at home and in Europe (supporting Moses Boyd and Alfa Mist) as well as receiving two Danish Music Awards and one Critic Award for ‘Best Musician’ between them.Outside of their own music, they’ve also played alongside talented contemporaries including Kaidi Tatham, Charlie Stacey, Erika de Casier and Taylor McFerrin in New York. With this album, a 20+ date European tour and a number of other exciting projects ahead of them, Athletic Progression are on the cusp of growing beyond their native Denmark and onto the global stage.
What happens when you bring together a space hop juggernaut with a spacey electro-soul outfit? The Hue collective, hailing from Space City, is the aftermath of combining the critically acclaimed groups H.I.S.D. (Hueston Independent Spit District) with their cosmic kinsmen and rising sensation Radio Galaxy. Their mission is to explore the creation of music with no boundaries.Conceived in 2013, this futurist soul hybrid consists of songstress/femcee Spacebunny Jefferson, emcees Scottie Spitten, Equality, and Savvi, along with producers King Midas and DJ Cozmos.Coming off of stellar projects, H.I.S.D.’s The Weakend and Radio Galaxy’s We Come in Peace, the aptly titled collaborative sequal, Aurora marks a new beginning in the ongoing mission to end the weak and space up the world through sound and color. What’s your hue?
Marvelous album by Dublin's rapper Kojaque. ‘Town’s Dead’ was written in Kojaque’s bedroom and on tour buses; he first started writing the album when he was just 19. The end result is a 16-track concept album that documents a love triangle unfolding over a New Year’s Eve celebration. It includes features from Maverick Sabre and Celia Tiab.In the press release, Kojaque has given an extensive statement on the album: “‘Town’s Dead’ comes from the potential that I see in Dublin and in the people I’m surrounded by day in and day out. There’s nothing but talent and ambition among young people. I’m constantly reminded of that through the art and music that I see being made but I think so often the city grinds you down, it takes your hope and your ambition. I know that it can change because so many of my friends express the same wants, desires and frustrations with living in Ireland.Read this next: Dublin’s club scene is firing again after years of closures“If so many of us are on the same page then I know that things can change, there just needs to be some sort of catalyst to kick start that change and for me, that’s always been art and music. The title track and the album is a fight against what can sometimes feel inevitable, it’s a rejection of what people tell you is your destiny as a young person in the city. Town’s not dead, it's just dormant.”Kojaque has previously supported slowthai and Lana Del Rey on tour. The news of ‘Town’s Dead’ follows on from his previous single ‘No Hands’ was released in February.
