Le musicien et tenancier des groupe et bar fictifs Mild High Club signe un quatrième album en forme de purgatoire pour temps troublés.Quand certains disques, comme les derniers albums en date de Björk, semblent être le produit ou une fraction d’une dimension parallèle vaste comme le monde et totalement inexplorée, d’autres ont l’air, à l’inverse, d’appartenir à un espace-temps plus modeste aux limites connues.C’est le cas de Going Going Gone, nouvel album du génial multi-instrumentiste Alexander Brettin, qui rassemble tout ce qu’on entendrait dans un petit bar de nuit qui porterait le nom de son vrai-faux groupe : le Mild High Club où funk déglinguée, bidouillages électroniques, musique brésilienne et free jazz cohabitent sans heurt.

It’s spring again, and this uplifting little masterpiece may just be the perfect soundtrack for it: Looks Like You’ve Already Won (MA 64) – the long awaited second album from Boston’s pop duo Ashby, following up their critically acclaimed 2001 debut Power Ballads (“Luxurious, intelligent pop” – Q Magazine).Ashby have expanded their sound quite significantly – with intricate multi-layered arrangements, a shimmering widescreen production and great contributions from an array of guest musicians, incl. Brazilian arranger Zé Luis (Bebel Gilberto, Brazilian Girls). The album’s ten tracks were recorded in Boston, New York City and Los Angeles.Richly layered horn arrangements are a trademark throughout the album courtesy of New York City wunderkind arranger Jeremy Adelman. The atmospheric instrumentation is offset by hard hitting funky drums played by multi-instrumentalist Bill Cowie, one half of the duo. The icing on the cake is Evelyn Pope’s pure, understated and floating voice that somehow manages to sound light and deep at the same time.And Ashby’s greatest signature are, of course, still simply beautiful melodies.Check it out, folks! A Colourful Storm presents Tangerine, a collection of songs by Reiko and Tori Kudo. Recorded at Village Hototoguiss, Japan, in 2011 and 2012 and Cafe Oto, London, in 2009, Tangerine is the result of over thirty years of improvisation and intimacy between Reiko Kudo and Tori Kudo (Maher Shalal Hash Baz, Fushitsusha, Noise, Ché-SHIZU). Their live performances would welcome local musicians, neighbourhood children, friends and passersby on stage while in the studio, they have been joined by Ikuro Takahashi (LSD March) and Takashi Ueno (Tenniscoats), releasing on indie labels such as Geographic and K. A touchstone of contemporary Japanese folk minimalism and significantly the last recorded appearance of the duo. Originally released on CD by Hyotan in 2013 and presented for the first time on vinyl by A Colourful Storm. Full-colour sleeve with insert, postcard and lyrics in Japanese and English.

Lorsque l’on parle du renouveau du folk britannique, il ne faut pas oublier une figure clé comme Ian A. Anderson, un auteur-compositeur à part entière et un véritable moteur de la scène locale. Actuellement rédacteur en chef du magazine de musique du monde fRoots, Ian A. Anderson s’est d’abord produit dans sa ville natale de Weston-super-Mare en tant que membre du Backwater Jook Band et s’est fait connaître en tant que membre de la scène country blues de Bristol du milieu à la fin des années 1960, se produisant en concert et sur disque, à la fois en solo, avec Al Jones et Elliott Jackson au sein du trio Anderson Jones Jackson, et en duo avec le « globe-trotter » et ami de longue date Mike Cooper. Après deux EP, il enregistre son premier album, Stereo Death Breakdown, sous le nom de Ian Anderson’s Country Blues Band, qui sort chez Liberty/United Artists en 1969. En décembre 1969, avec John Turner, il conçoit le label The Village Thing, pour lequel il est également producteur. Le label a sorti deux douzaines d’albums entre 1970 et 1974, dont des albums influents de Wizz Jones, Sun Also Rises, Pigsty Hill Light Orchestra, Steve Tilston, Dave Evans, Lackey & Sweeney, Chris Thompson, Dave Peabody et d’autres, ainsi que trois albums d’Anderson lui-même. Royal York Crescent » est le premier album solo enregistré le 13 novembre 1970 et est toujours considéré comme un précurseur du mouvement acid folk. Son fingerpicking léger était soutenu par les bongos – Ian Turner – et la basse/piano – John Turner – fournissant un effort dynamique pour son lyrisme spectaculaire. Ce classique perdu depuis longtemps est enfin réédité pour votre divertissement nécessaire.
