Pure madness 100% InstrumentalUnreleased 80s 24 Track Master Techno from landyhill, founding member of Timex Social Club. Single sided 12inch vinyl with jacket/stickerAlex "landy" Hill's musical journey began in the early 80s with the DJ collective Control Crew, performing live DJ sets & rap shows at the birth of turntablism in Oakland California. Alex was the one guy who had two technics 1200s, a costly investment for any teen at that time. In 1982 Alex and high school friend Marcus Thompson formed Timex Social Club. Alex wrote the 1986 anthem "Rumors", a song often cited as the precursor to New Jack Swing. Shortly after high school, Alex would already have a #1 hit on the Billboard R&B charts with Timex Social Club, and tour dates with RUN DMC, Beastie Boys, and LL Cool J, performing at Madison square Gardens, TWICE! Alex went on to produce music for Jay King / King Jay Records, Club Nouveau, LaRue, and Michael Cooper. Aside from music, most of landyhill's fans and followers are from his time as an avid blogger in the 90s, remember Mr. Blunt's Hip Hop Homepage??Single Sided 12" with 24-Track master and 4-Track Home Demo Version [info sheet from distr.]
Brian Bennett is one of instrumental music's true cult figures. Drummer for Cliff Richard & The Shadows, Bennett also is the composer of some of the most collectible production music albums ever made, and for over 40 years has been a sought-after composer for TV and film. But of all his projects, his 1978 release "Voyage (A Journey into Discoid Funk)" is probably his most beloved, a truly pioneering "space disco" recording inspired by Brian Eno but wielding a groove all its own. Despite its absolutely eye-popping Discogs stats, our release marks its first vinyl reissue outside of Australia, and its first-ever release on colored vinyl (blue with black swirl), complete with original gatefold jacket art. 2800 copies.
Following the success of his label debut - the raucous ‘Bun & Cheese’ EP - Dudley bassline stalwart DJ Pantha - is back with a full-length LP. ‘The 140 Archives’ sees Pantha prove his prowess in harnessing a sound which captures the genre in its antecedents whilst resembling something altogether new. Funky rhythms and rude melodies energise the first two tracks before the half-time ‘Vibez’ represents a slightly darker, more contemplative take. Elsewhere, Grime’s influence lives through ‘Four By Niche’ and the title, claps and chopped choral vocals of ‘Blackberry Riddim’, whilst the gunshot-happy ‘Emmerdale’ and ‘Protein Shake’ represent bassline at its most playful. The 140 Archives LP drops 23rd September via Time Is Now.créditsDJ PANTHAThe 140 Archives LPTime Is Now Germany
Funkadelic have created an enduring legacy, and the power of their impact is visceral in Detroit. Their records not only played with genre, but possessed a diabolical sense of humour that led to music domination by the late 70s with Parliament, Funkadelic, Parlet, Bootsy's Rubber Band and the Brides Of Funkenstein all releasing albums the same year for two years in a row. The music itself is beyond stereotype, but equally huge is that they were a black band not allowing themselves to be limited by anyone else's notions of who they could be, having a massive impact on the next generation of Detroit music, Detroit Techno. But more than just Techno, it is a freedom of thinking that extends beyond boxes, so we included all sorts of today's generation of Detroit musicians and producers to show the wide range of music that was Funkadelic and how these ideas are still contemporary, they endure and inspire.
