The Dap-Kings' electro-sax space warrior returns with a groove-heavy sequel to All My Relations. Vol. II: Baca Sewa, an expressive, transcendental voyage through the archives of his indigenous roots and beyond. Drawing on ancestral memories and family histories to wrap new flesh around the bones of history, this album is a bold, semi-autobiographical work that leads us deeper into the annals of family histories, mythology and the cultural imaginary.“Baca Sewa” is Cochemeaʼs original family name prior to Spanish colonization and the fracturing or erasure of ancient knowledge and ways. The melody for the title track was composed by Anthony Gastelum and features vocals and drumming by the Baca Sewa Singers- a group composed of several generations of family members. The album runs thick with sonic tributes and remembrances. “Chitoʼs Song” is a contemplative, ethereal tribute to a beloved uncle. “Curandera” conjures the memory of the irrepressible healing power of medicine women. “Black Pearl” recalls his great grandfather, heir to a legacy of indigenous peoples enslaved as pearl divers in the Sea of Cortez.Leading a 7-piece ensemble composed of New Yorkʼs top percussionists and members of Daptoneʼs rhythm section, Cochemea recombined ancient elements of drums, winds, and voice, creating his own world of emotional textures and rhythmic possibilities. His musical and spiritual synthesis is made possible through his deep reverence of the horn and of the music and traditions preceding him. Vol II: Baca Sewa - is an offering and continuation of Cochemeaʼs explorations, part of a musical process of cultural reclamation and healing through connection, relations, memory and imagination.

This project started around September 2017, Kill Emil from Athens (GR) joined the MSG Records Family for an exclusive opening track, then Creestal (FR) accepted to join as the "closer".Mista Hope (FR) & Velvetian Sky (FR/US) both already released on the label decided to dive into this crazy sonic journey.After a few weeks they were joined by Henry canyons (LA / USA)Creestal (CM Jones/Munchie Records) started to produce some beats dedicated to Henry's performance. Far Out Recordings est ravi de présenter Mora ! et pour la première fois en vinyle, Mora ! II. Percussionniste mexicain-américain et ancien membre du Sun Ra Arkestra, Francisco Mora Catlett a enregistré et sorti son premier LP solo en 1987 en tant que presse privée, mais la suite qu'il a enregistrée au cours des années suivantes avec une section de cuivres jazz élargie à Detroit a été mise en veilleuse pendant des décennies. Mélange panaméricain de rythmes afro-cubains hypnotiques, de batucadas frénétiques et de sambas enflammées, Mora I & II sont les saints graals du jazz latin, dirigés par un héros méconnu du genre. S'installant à Detroit après ses années passées avec l'Arkestra, Francisco s'est mis au travail pour ses débuts éponymes, rassemblant un ensemble de musiciens comprenant le claviériste Kenny Cox, fondateur du légendaire Strata Records, le bassiste Rodney Whitaker du Roy Hargrove Quintet et les percussionnistes Jerome Le Duff, Alberto Nacif et Emile Borde. La suite Mora II est enregistrée peu de temps après avec un line-up élargi qui comprend la légende de la trompette Marcus Belgrave, célèbre pour son travail avec Ray Charles, Charles Mingus, Hank Crawford, Eddie Russ et Wendell Harrison.

Portico Quartet annonce Terrain, une suite en trois parties s'inspirant du minimalisme américain et de lamusique ambient et explorant de nouvelles perspectives musicales.Lorsque Duncan Bellamy et Jack Wyllie, la force motrice derrière Portico Quartet, se sont réunis dans leurstudio de l'Est de Londres en mai 2020 et ont commencé à travailler sur la musique qui allait devenir leurnouvel album, la majeure partie du monde était au milieu du premier confinement. En créant Terrain, ils ontété attirés vers des pièces plus longues, se déroulant lentement, et qui sont peut-être les plus libres sur leplan artistique et aussi les plus belles qu'ils aient jamais réalisés.Les terrains I, II et III sont tous subtilement différents, mais un court motif rythmique qui se répète est lepoint de départ des trois mouvements. Il y a un sens d'un voyage partagé à toutes ces pièces. Elles sedéplacent à travers différents mondes, avec une sensation de mouvement horizontal qui donne à lamusique un véritable élan. C'est ce sens du dialogue, à la fois entre les compositeurs, et entre la tranquillitéet une mélancolie subtilement troublante, qui fait de Terrain une déclaration si puissante. Celui qui parle à lafois de nos mondes intérieurs et extérieurs, de notre propre paysage personnel, de notre Terrain.

City of Mirrors is a bold new collection of music from Chicago-based alt-Latinx band Dos Santos, which is comprised of bandleader / singer / lyricst / guitarist / keyboardist Alex Chavez, drummer Daniel Villarreal, percussionist Peter “Maestro” Vale, bassist Jaime Garza, and guitarist/multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Nathan Karagianis.Cinematic in its journey, the album was produced by multimedia artist and long-time friend of the band Elliot Bergman (NOMO, Wild Belle), and reflects sounds from across the Americas combined with Chavez’s compelling poetic narratives. Its 13 tracks consolidate the band’s unique identities, creative and cultural roots, and their penchant for honoring traditional Latinx music with contemporary compositional expressions and production techniques.
