Hong-Kong based French producer Romain FX first created this Cantonese-language cover version of Charlie's italo-disco anthem 'Spacer Woman' some years back. It has been a staple of his sets - and others in the Hong-Kong scene - ever since, so it's nice to see it finally get a proper release courtesy of Sound Metaphors offshoot 'Bless You'. In its opening 'Vocal Mix' form, the track lightly updates the sound of the original record while retaining key elements (the bassline and deliciously intergalactic chords). It's very well made, feeling both lo-fi and surprisingly expansive at the same time. It comes accompanied by two alternate takes: an instrumental 'Karaoke version' and the flipside 'Acid Trip Version', which dispenses with the vocal and adds in trippy TB-303 lines and other wayward electronic motifs.
