Rick Clarke - Soul 2 Soul - dispo au Discopathe Montpellier !

Rick Clarke was signed to Soul II Soul's Funki Dreds label, meaning he was contractually not allowed to release his music elsewhere. As such, he anonymously slipped out this album Guess Who in 1992, but now it gets a welcome reissue on Freestyle Records under the artist's given name. It is packed with creative ideas and sweet stripped back house grooves with a hint of garage swing. It features plenty of Rick's friends and collaborators who all came to his MJB Records studio in West Kensington where the LP was produced and recorded in just a few days. It's packed with raw drum machine sounds, great basslines and sweet melodies.

loors Records is set to release a new vinyl project titled ‘Trinity Various’ at the end of May. The release will bring together an original track composed by a member of the Floors Records collective, a rework by Gin Tonic Orchestra, and a remix by an international DJ. This project is the first of a series of recurring releases by Floors Records that will follow the same format. The French producer Kaffe Crème, known for the highly sought-Kaffe Crème EP in 2016, has contributed an original track to the project called ‘Nuits Sonores’. The track pays homage to the festival of the same name in Lyon, France, in a classic old-school House style. In addition, Chicago legend Ron Trent, widely considered one of the most talented and accomplished deep house producers of all time, has remixed the Gin Tonic Orchestra’s rework, adding his own unique touch as the Godfather of the genre.
This inaugural release from new underground electronic music label Rubi Records celebratesthe welcome return of minimalist drum & bass producer Ashley Tindall, aka Skeptical, showcasing his first solo productions for over two years. Working with the clean slate that comes from setting himself no stylistic constraints, Ashley offers three new tracks that, although stamped with his meticulous trademark style, hit a little different than you might expect. If you’ve listened to the most recent remixes he has done, you’ll have heard a hint of what’s in store here: a maturity of style with an evolved sonic palette that takes his signature sound into new territory.Ashley Tindal has always been forward-thinking when it comes to his productions, but never more so than with this EP, which delivers three slices of the highest quality, cutting-edge D&B.The EP kicks off with ‘Thru My Head’, a sinister, dub-tinged beast that builds up with a dark, mesmeric melody before dropping some serious ‘stepper’ beats and an undulating low-end that rolls as only a Skeptical b-line does.‘Push Up’ delves into much heavier territory. An intro of claustrophobic pads and menacing keys leads into a savage drop of surgical beats that have been crafted with military precision, underpinned with a monstrous bass line, and injected with the simple but effective ‘push up’ vocal hook. Add in some trademark Skeptical sounds and you have a certified dance floor weapon to get the crowd moving. The EP closes with ‘Initiate’, a dystopian slice of D&B futurism that mixes up dark pads, beats so tense they ooze nervous energy, and some of the most twisted sci-fi sonics yet used by Skeptical. This is a masterclass in next-level business!SKEPTICALInitiate EPRubi

The diminutive Peter Barclay was that guy in early ’90s Oakland, the eccentric with the most style, the most talent, the local magician. This self-taught musical wizard recorded at home and produced two barely-released albums, 1990’s dreamlike Acceptance and 1992’s synth pop What Kind Of World, winning over the few who heard them. But fame outside his small circle was not to be, and Barclay was lost in the late-’90s crest of the AIDS epidemic. Rediscovered for a new generation, this is queer music at its finest… Welcome to the world of Peter Barclay.
20 years in the sound system game, 20 years of musical back-catalogue, 20 years setting fire to dance floors and elaborating their unique dub sound heavily soaked in reggae and bass music. Since the 70s, much like reggae, dub has been through non-stop mutations leaving its impact on the course of music evolution, and O.B.F Sound System are spearheading the genre’s recent growth; a style born from the underground that has discretely influenced the development of electronic music. Straight outta the French Alps, stemming from the core of Geneva’s alternative scene, one of the most warrior sound systems of the continent has established itself as an irresistible magnetic phenomenon. On “LAVA” O.B.F continue their sonic ascension. Reaching a new milestone in their endless quest in dub music, unmistakably forward-thinking and bursting with modern influences. At the crossroads between contemporary urban sounds, bass music, club music and dancehall, LAVA's dub is heavy, undiluted. No half-stepping, O.B.F demonstrate how they whip up sound matter, how they fry up music in order to make big sound systems smoke.‘LAVA’ is the O.B.F crew in fusion; consisting of its stellar team of MCs and renown solo- producer Rico; together concocting spontaneous studio eruptions. It’s the raw energy of a tight-knit family, a collection of 16 tracks of pure volcanic matter slapped onto wax. One after another or as a duo Belén Natalí (Argentina), Charlie P (UK), Sr. Wilson (Spain), Junior Roy (France) and the late great dub poet Nazamba (Jamaica) take turns blowing fire into the microphone. English, French, Jamaican Patois and Spanish collide, affirming O.B.Fs transnational identity. An uncontrollable crew that controls the dance, their unity, clashes, sweaty sound system sessions are all put together into one project. O.B.F paint their vision onto a range of musical canvases; "LAVA" brazenly portrays new facets of one of the most exciting dub sounds in existence: the O.B.F Sound. Ah O.B.F ting dis!_____
