Funky Mother is Analog Son's fourth full-length album. Produced and mixed by Eddie Roberts (Guitarist for The New Mastersounds) is their most robust effort yet with a 12-song collection of instant classics composed by co-founders and longtime musical collaborators, Jordan Linit and Josh Fairman. This album differs in a couple of key manners. For one, Linit and Fairman have cultivated a steadfast crew of top-call musicians to round out their roster as opposed to the “Steely Dan” format the group has used with a rotating studio cast on the prior three albums. In addition to Linit on guitar and Fairman on bass, these musicians include: Devon Parker & Ashley Niven (vocals), Eric Luba (keyboards), George Horn (drums), Will Trask (percussion), Mike Chiesa (tenor saxophone), and Gabe Mervine (trumpet).
Quite rare 1st french press in top condition.
Originaly released in 1997 on Vicious Circle, Twisted In Anguish, the second album by Tantrum will be released for the first time on vinyl next fall.Freshly remastered for the occasion by David Weber at Studio Des Forces Motrices in Geneva (he recorded the album back in 96). Tantrum started as the hardcore twin of the grunge band Drive Blind under the influence of Helmet, Unsane or Today Is The Day, it can also be seen as the outlet of Pierre Viguier (guitar/vocals – Drive Blind), joined on this record by Nicolas Gromoff (drums – Drive Blind) and Jean-Michel Gimenez (bass – Beamtrap).Tantrum released a long series of splits with the most significant bands of the french scene at that time : Belly Button, Knut, Epileptic, Beamtrap, and toured with Burning Heads, Seven Hate, Portobello Bones or Condense.Nine raging songs that jump on your throat: an entire branch of music collapse and rise again, the fist in the air ! Monolithic guitars, monstrous bass groove and relentless drumming, Tantrum is ready to fight ! At the end of the record, « Fault » an unifying song written with two basses gives you that irrpressible urge to flip back the record to side A.If you like : Helmet, Drive Blind, Unsane, Quicksand, Keelhaul…
By the mid-1990s, there was a quietly thriving underground in Wellington, New Zealand, made up of a number of loosely aligned operatives - Surface of The Earth and their World Resources imprint; Fever Hospital and 8 Dec, and the music made by the members of The Garbage & the Flowers after that group temporarily dissolved in 1992..." One of those rather short-lived groups was Dress, who on record consisted of Yuri Frusin and Helen Johnstone from The Garbage & the Flowers and Kristen Wineera from Entlang. Their sole release was a lathe cut 10" released in 1995 on their own label Hell On in a total run of 120 copies.Fördämning Arkiv here presents those wonderfully puzzling tracks to a wider audience, now pressed as a 45rpm 12" with the original recordings remastered for vinyl by Ben Wright Smith. While the ambience is kind of similar to what was going on in early The Garbage & the Flowers stuff, the music that was made by Dress was very different: improvised and non-song-based but kept in place by repetition and odd melodies.Hypnotic and perplexing music that existed in its own parallel universe for a brief moment in time. The 12" is packaged in a sleeve with slightly reworked artwork though staying very close to the original 10" cover and comes with a 16-page booklet featuring extensive liner notes by Jon Dale, lots of photos and a reprint of the interview with Helen Johnstone and Yuri Frusin published in Opprobrium #1 in 1995. Edition of 500 copies.Edition of 500 + 16-page bookle
