Super rare deep 1975 jazz/funk album from Cleveland Eaton! Some wild styles going on here ranging from the Blaxploitation soundtrack stylings of “Keena,” “All Your Lover All Day All Night,” and “Hamburg 302,” all of which incorporate disco-style strings into funky soul-jazz vamps, to the almost trad-jazz of “Kaiser 405,” to the Philly soul of “Are You Out There Somewhere Caring,” to the out-and-out party anthem “Moe Let’s Have a Party.” KILLER, KILLER ALBUM!Written and Arranged by Cleveland Eaton, except "Are You Out There Somewhere Caring" written by M. Anderson, C. Eatonwith special assistance from Ed Green & Morris JenningsSpecial thanks to the late Terry Bashman and Peter Trunk, for making some of our music.Produced by Eaton's Prod. Inc. Deluxe hard-cardboard sleeve + OBI + resealable outer sleeve + 2 Page info sheet with Leo Acosta story in English and Spanish by Carlos TropicazaLeobardo Acosta Quintanar was born in Huetamo, Michoacán in 1925. He was a notable drummer, composer, arranger, and orchestrator. In 1970, he recorded a last LP for Capitol with a small combo formed with some of his closest peers. The sound engineer for these sessions, Rogiero Silva, recalls that it happened in the night time. Leo was always very demanding in his studio hours with all of his musicians and that he did not tolerate mistakes or setbacks, but he was fully relaxed and enjoying this one very much. For this last LP, entitled “ACOSTA” but known as "El Leon”, all the compositions are originals, unlike his previous albums where the labels required him to record at least 6 songs that were hits on the popularity charts.
Squarepusher goes full on Vocoder-Funk on your ass. Slick slick slick!
We have no idea who The New Lucky Seven is and this is their first ever release, according to Discogs - but you can always be sure that the ever reliable Tramp Records will come up with the goods whoever they look to release. 'Woodhead (part 1)' is a lush and funky roller with lovely horn leads and lazy chords that soundtrack a gentle session as afternoon turns into evening. 'Woodhead (part 2)' gets a little more upbeat with busier guitar leeds and subtle psyche-hints. Either tune is boss, frankly.
