The new Robohands LP showcases the brilliant producer and multi-instrumentalist through his most thought-out and compelling songwriting, yet.

Andy Baxter AKA Robohands displays a new level of sureness with an album that makes you never want to leave its world. The collection of tunes touches on the full range of emotions, at times it’s bold and upbeat and other times it feels somber and heartbroken. It’s tied together with a throughline that keeps you wondering where the trip is heading next.

It builds anticipation through patience and layers that show themselves over time, but its choices are direct and seem to know where they are going while maintaining and presenting an adventurous spirit.

The multi-instrumentalist not only brought in new tones and textures for this record but there are also stand-out vocal performances on 2 of the tracks by singer, Aleh. Showing his ability to arrange with new elements at play.

Edition of 250Dank, modern Bristol trip hop vibes from scene regulars such as VMO$ & Boofy, plus new names Birthmark, Withdrawn, and Sunun, all rounded up by new label; Cold LightOne for the smokers and night owls, ‘CL002’ proves that the enervated energy of Avon’s bassy epicentre is still glowing like embers of an old fire, coming with the blunted shunt and bloo haze of Birthmark, who sounds like he’s got the flu on ‘Haunted’, before lending a slightly less sluggish turn on Withdrawn’s ‘I Have Known Rivers’. Sunun follows on the flip with a findus crispy cut of BoC-like flutes overgrown with vinyl crackle and a web of insectoid percussion, leaving VMO$ & Boofy to shut the lights off with a blushing crush of screwed R&B, Houston-via-Bristol style.

His monumental LP of solo soprano saxophone improvisations, recorded direct-cut and issued by Incus in 1978.Lovingly reissued by Treader — the CD is from PSI — using the original stampers, in a gorgeous hand-assembled sleeve, with glossy front and matt back, flaps out.Unmissable.‘Parker uses rapid tonguing techniques and circular breathing to create a sound all his own, marked by the simultaneous intonation of multiple notes. One hears a note as well as all the residual tones around it; each breath ends up sounding like a battle between the different registers of the horn. At various times, Parker’s saxophone sounds like dolphin speech, electronic tape squeals, or human murmurs; namely, anything but what it actually is. His language on the instrument is essential listening for anyone interested in acoustic experimental music’ (AllMusic).‘Eight years after Topography Of The Lungs, and two years after his Saxophone Solos, Monoceros was the most muscular statement of Evan Parker’s solo saxophone muse.
