Other Mirror was formed by longtime friends, Jonny Cuba (Soundsci Producer) and James Tilley (multi-instrumentalist). In 2018, the band found themselves creating music together, for a project that they had talked about starting since becoming school friends many years prior. Although this is the band’s debut album and debut on KingUnderground, the members who make up the group are far from newcomers. Each individual brings a strong track record of music and creative experience to the project, which informs each of their musical philosophies and approach to collaborating and conceptualizing art together.
Beautiful jazz record by James Allsopp Quartet on Nostalgia 77's imprint Impossible Ark Records. Limited run of 300 copies.A moment of silence to respect the level of musicianship here. These guys really know how to talk to each other. Every topic in the album is maturely discussed. A group as tight-knit as this hasn't been heard since the 50's. Allsopp has a very specific sound that is solid like Getz and yet delicate like Desmond; a sound I can't put my finger on. The only way to put it is that he sounds like James Allsopp. I had no choice but to get the LP, where it has earned its spot here in Cali next to Baker, Mulligan, Pepper, and all alike. You'd be a fool to go on without it. A toast. Piste favorite : My One And Only Love
Plusieurs des artistes qui figurent sur cette compilation, comme Cat Toren et David...Jazzman present their overview of the contemporary exponents of Spiritual Jazz; musicians who are intent on bringing something personal to the table, as much as they recognize the importance of those who have paved the way for them. Features music recorded within the past 20 years and from 15 different countries, including modern classics from the likes of Vibration Black Finger, Wildflower, Angel Bat Dawid through to veterans such as Steve Reid, providing a vital link between the past masters and the enlightened new generation.
After his first adventure in the endless universe of instrumental music where he made known “Man With a Plan” in 2018, Minus & MRDolly now presents the new EP Broken Hearts Make Broken Beats. This new work is the result of a recording session at the Groove-Wood studios promoted by João André - who mixes two of the three originals of the EP - to which Hugo Danin joined on drums and Sérgio Alves on keyboards and electric piano. In trio, Minus, Hugo and Sérgio rearranged and explored the original sketches, previously composed by Minus & MRDolly.Floating, or as if to say, with one “foot inside and the other outside” of his so familiar home that is Hip Hop, “BHMBB” is the reflection of some musical references previous to that house, where “Britfunk” or “Broken Beat” serves as an example. This EP intends to marry the acoustic character of the interpretation with the aesthetic and electronic universe of dance music.“Salame”, “The Break” and “A Thousand Miles”, the three originals that make up the EP Broken Hearts Make Broken Beats, also count on the participation of percussionists Manu Idhra and Rui Ferreira, the voice of Mary Raisekings, and the Pardal saxophone. The theme "The Break" has remixes by Pedro and Max Graef.
