Composer, bassist and producer Horatio Luna is a musician intrinsically interwoven into the fabric of Melbourne’s (and indeed the global) jazz scene.

Composer, bassist and producer Horatio Luna is a musician intrinsically interwoven into the fabric of Melbourne’s (and indeed the global) jazz scene. Following his 2020 LP “Boom Boom” (Which won support from the likes of Jamz Supernova, Lefto, Bradley Zero, Earmilk and OkayPlayer) Horatio returns to Jitwam’s The Jazz Diaries imprint, inviting several of his all- time favourite producers to reimagine some of his standout tracks.

The ‘Reworks EP’ kicks off with Horatio’s interpretation of ‘Milestones’ (a cover of the incredible Miles Davis track), while enigmatic UK producer Zepherin Saint takes to the boards with his remix of ‘Bumps’, giving the track a new lease of life with scattered drums and jazzy progressions. Next up Detroit’s Patrice Scott turns in his emotive remix of Horatio’s LP title track ‘Boom Boom’ - featuring moody pads, piano flourishes and an ominous bassline, he adds some Mo-town seasoning into the original. Last but not least the one and only Kai Alcé also turns his gaze to ‘Boom Boom’ opting for a moreuplifting approach, and his Wurlitzer notes stretch into theether, to be joined by a driving rhythm section to keep the dancers moving.
With these incredible remixes, Horatio’s infectious and groove-soaked driving bassline and astral textures are given a soulful injection from some of the finest in the game.

Analytica make synth-pop the old-fashioned way: driving, verse/chorus pop songs utilizing hardware synthesizers and drum machines, vocals and bass guitar, and recorded to tape.
This fifth record, On/Off, Bachar wanted to record it in his native Lebanon. More precisely in the main room of his family house, a stone house standing alone in the mountains north of Beirut. In this big room there is all that’s needed: a piano, a chimney, the stove and some rare instruments who have been sleeping there for years, serving as decorations. For two whole weeks, Bachar welcomes, shapes and celebrates the urgency of creation. The recording takes place in decembre 2019, it’s rhythm follows that of the popular uprising which is shaking Lebanon since october. In his own way, Bachar contributes to it - emotion is raw, his music is stripped down, just liked his country. In the house, electricity goes on & off twice, a day. During the night, hostile and freezing, hyenas are heard; during the day, the birds whistle with serenity, and the light of day shines through the windows, each day slightly differently…This constant duality becomes a source of inspiration for Bachar, obsessed as he is by this rustic environment which exacerbates the senses. The record has 11 tracks, all written on the spot, as well as a duo recorded in 2017 with the french singer Christophe -Jnoun (unreleased up to now).
The Gleam scintille et éblouit. Laissez-vous emporter…
Ahead of a second volume of the highly anticipated 'Outro Tempo' compilation, Music From Memory drops this teaser EP with the never before heard cassette madness of São Paulo’s Bruhahá Babélico and Individual Industry’s ethereal electro pop on the flip!
Pascal Arbez aka Vitalic returns to his Clivage Music imprint with a collection of dancefloor bangers. While the infectious vocals and melodies on "Haute Dimension" and the moody "Danse Avec Moi" show that Vitalic has embraced pop music, these mainstream-facing contributions sit alongside wild acid burners like "Rave Against the System" and the grating, visceral industrial of "Boomer OK". While the dance floor remains Vitalic's focus, Dissidaence also shows that he's capable of a more nuanced approach: led by spaced out synths and a warm, pulsating bass on "Cosmic Renegade", Vitalic takes his cues from classic Italo to map out a brave new approach.
