The title is an uncompromising message that this man means business, and with his mammoth afrobeat orchestra on board that is definitely the case. Recorded at the Fish Market Studios in North-West London by Benedic Lamdin (AKA Nostalgia 77) the album provides a musical representation of Dele's strong socio-political opinions, as well as delivering classic song-writing that could have come straight out of 1970s Lagos!Born in Hackney, East London, but soon to return to his parents' native Nigeria at the age of four, Dele Sosimi was schooled and raised in Fela Anikulapo Kuti's shadow at the height of early 70s afrobeat. Having been chosen by Fela to join his band at somewhat of a tender age, he was still a young man when sharing Fela's Glastonbury stage in 1984, and became both Musical Director for both Fela's Egypt 80 and Femi Kuti's Positive Force.After Fela's passing in 1997, Dele went on to concentrate on his own solo career and, with diligent patience, carved out his own afrobeat crown. In London, where he now resides, his Afrobeat Vibration all-nighters are charged with his passion, labours and his unrelenting spirit.Following on from his first two studio albums, Turbulent Times and Identity, this third long-player is sure to cement Dele Sosimi's position as a major player within afrobeat and beyond!

Le label malien Mieruba. La petite maison d’édition basée sur les rives du fleuve Niger, dans la douce ville de Ségou travaille depuis des années à ce projet intitulé The Lost Maestros Collection, il s’agit d’un devoir de mémoire autant qu’un projet artistique qui réunit 8 artistes maliens qui tous ont connu leur heure de gloire, mais qui malheureusement ont parfois un peu sombré dans l’oubli.Il faut dire que l’étincelle qui a permis de lancer ce projet fut le décès du regretté chanteur Mangala Camara, dont on retrouve à titre posthume le dernier EP dans cette collection. Vous aurez probablement constaté que trop souvent ces mots reviennent : « …il décédera dans la pauvreté, et l’indifférence ». C’est donc pour que plus personne n’ait à écrire ce genre de phrase que le label Mieruba a oeuvré durement pendant 8 ans à retrouver, et enregistrer (en 2010 avec des premiers enregistrements au célèbre studio Bogolan de Bamako, puis ponctué par d’autres prises de son au Kôré studio de Ségou en 2016) ces 8 grands noms de la musique malienne.En 2021, Phil, le fondateur de La Manufacture de Vinyles, a créé le Label Deviation Records pour produire et promouvoir artistes et projets musicaux. Salia qui gère le label Mieruba m’a contacté pour trouver un partenaire qui souhaiterait produire & diffuser la collection en Europe et ainsi porter à votre connaissance leur travail et celui des Musiciens Maliens des Lost Maestros.

Ahemaa Nwomkro, which means queens of Nwomkro, are Victoria Osei and Theresa Owusuaa. Nwomkro is an old Ashanti musical style, which played an influential role in the origin of the typical more roots-like Highlife style of Kumasi, the cultural capital of Ghana in the middle of the jungle.On this release the two singers have teamed up with the young generation of Highlife muicians of Kumasi. On guitar is Akule Pepe, who served for years in the group of Highlife legend Alex Konadu, the most on demand band in its time. The two songs are a rare example of how good pure Nwomkro gets together with typical Highlife.

With a title that translates as "soul creole", it's perhaps unsurprising to find that David Walters' new album is a warm, woozy and tropical-tinged delight. It was produced by Favorite Recordings in house producer Bruno "Patchworks" Hovart, and you can hear his hand in the warm, authentic and vintage blend of African, South American, Caribbean rhythms and instrumentation. Walters says he was inspired by the melting pot that was New York at the turn of the 80s, too, and that's evident throughout. Add it all up and you have an eclectric, retro-futurist treat held together by the dual appeal of Hovart's production and Walters' fantastic multi-lingual vocals.

Tradition et expérimentation sont deux territoires familiers entre lesquels C'mon Tigre, un duo italien qui trouve son identité en travaillant avec des musiciens du monde entier, sait très bien se balancer. Comme pour leur premier album éponyme sorti en 2014, ils ont réuni un collectif multicolore pour leur deuxième disque Racines (2019) et maintenant leur troisième album Scenario. Naviguant depuis le bassin méditerranéen et se laissant guider par une fascination pour l'Afrique et le Moyen-Orient, C'mon Tigre donne naissance à un langage personnel, fait de mélanges avec le jazz, l'afrojazz, les rythmiques du hip hop, le funk et le disco des années 70. Le tout sans jamais cantonner leurs chansons à un style, mais en poussant l'exploration autant que possible, dans une dimension que tout voyage digne de ce nom devrait embrasser. Avec les musiciens qu’ils invitent, l'échange et l'expérimentation se poursuivent sans fin et les chansons peuvent prendre différentes directions à tout moment. Le résultat est un disque métissé, cosmopolite, qui échappe à toute étiquette pour affirmer une attitude libre. Une attitude qui a conduit C'mon Tigre à rechercher une connexion avec la culture dancefloor, même si ce n’est qu’une inspiration qu’ils s’approprient de manière personnelle. Cette imagerie cinématographique a poussé C'mon Tigre à traduire son errance musicale sous une forme visuelle, comme ils l'avaient déjà fait par le passé avec des vidéos animées réalisées avec le peintre Gianluigi Toccafondo et l’artiste 3D Sic Est pour deux titres de leur album précédent. Aujourd'hui, l'ambition de fusionner musique et images est encore plus grande, puisque Scenario sort au format vinyle et dans une version deluxe comprenant un volume à feuilleter en écoutant l'album, qui associe chaque titre à une photo particulière prise par Paolo Pellegrin. Paolo a passé les 30 dernières années à documenter le monde. Il vit et témoigne des questions relatives aux conditions de vie, à la pauvreté, à la souffrance et à la violence, en adoptant une approche anthropologique. Un regard subjectif mais détaché, qui est à la fois une réflexion et une analyse, qui coïncide avec une attitude d'ouverture, de respect et d'intérêt, l’attitude de quelqu'un embarqué dans une odyssée entre l'humain et l'inhumain. Le troisième album Scenario veut raconter ce qui nous définit en tant qu'êtres humains : la joie, la connexion, la colère, le sentiment d'appartenance, la douleur, l'angoisse, la violence, la dignité. Founded in 1996 by the German-Nigerian lead singer Ade Bantu, his brother Abiodun Odukoya and Patrice, BANTU have been one of the West African acts transforming the legacy of King Sunny Adé and Fela Kuti into the soundtrack of the continent. The group is distinguished by the fact that while created and fronted by vocalist Ade Bantu, it is unmistakably a collective, collaborative effort. These collaborations helped the band earn several major Continental awards, including the Kora Awards (the Pan African equivalent of the Grammys) for “Best Group West Africa” and “Best Group Africa”.Their latest release Everybody Get Agenda is nothing short of a musical sensation - Afrobeat, Funk and Soul seamlessly flow into one another as they merge with Jazz, Highlife, Hiphop and Yoruba music. The lyrics address issues around corruption, injustice, migration, xenophobia and urban alienation while a guest appearance by Seun Kuti on “Yeye Theory” rounds up this solid long player. There is no doubt that with Everybody Get Agenda BANTU has not just charted new musical territory but reached it and planted the flag.
