En 1964 et 1966, lorsque Serge Gainsbourg participe à deux enregistrements publics à la Maison de la Radio, il est incontestablement la star de la soirée. S’achève alors, selon ses propres mots, sa “période bleue”, entre chanson rive-gauche, influences du jazz et rythmes exotiques. Il est le maître du clair-obscur et du double sens, poète à l’ironie mordante.Dans ces huit chansons émouvantes, seul au piano ou accompagné d’une guitare et d’une contrebasse, Gainsbourg endosse le rôle de l’amoureux déçu comme du cynique désabusé. Ces enregistrements inédits sont un parfait condensé de la première décennie de sa carrière.

Lightning Bolt play with abandon that is unmatched and remarkably undiluted and this album is just one more example of that raw power and sound.They are often called one of the loudest rock outfits in existence, both on record and on (or famously, off) the stage. Brian Gibson creates sounds that are unexpected and remarkably varied with his virtuosic bass playing and his inventive approach to the instrument, centered around melody rather than rhythm. The dizzying fury of Brian Chippendale’s drums twist from primal patterns into disorienting break beats as his distorted, and echoing vocals weave more melody into the mayhem.

Whereas the band’s debut album ‘Popular Music’ was broadly political, the new album takes a more personal approach with beguilingly honest and brave lyrics that are bold in both sound and feeling, whilst also retaining the core DNA of their previous material.Going on to speak about the album Mez says “A Picture of Good Health is not a collage of work but rather a snapshot of time; our time and the time of those around us. It’s political, but in a personal way. It’s a body of work that explores and examines the bands inner-selves through a precise period; a period that has brought pain, loneliness, blood, guts, single parenthood, depression and the need for survival and love. Ils sont imbibés de whisky et de la vapeur iodée de tous les pubs de l’estuaire de la Humber. On n’y sort pas sa guitare pour rien : le folk là-bas ne fait pas de cadeau, il est for real. Fils de Hull comme un marin l’est des rades autour du monde, façonné par le revival folk US des années soixante et soigneux d’un American Dream bien particulier, Prokop débarque.Dans cet album de reprise de chansons traditionnelles, il veut montrer que ces vieilles chansons sont toujoursactuelles car on se les réaproprie en permanence. Jouées par les musiciens folks, ils se les passent de génération en génération et chacun en fait sa version avec ses propres arrangements. Pour Prokop, « On est songwritter folk qu’à partir du moment où on prend en compte ce qui a été écrit avant nous ». Cela lui tenait donc à coeur de débuter sa discographie par « The Confinement Tapes » avant un premier album de ses propres compositions. Avec un enregistrement et des arrangements « roots », Prokop est comme « à nu » sur ce disque dont le genre dominant est la folk, mais non sans lien avec le blues et la country aux inspirations diverses comme Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash ou encore Pete Seeger.
