Le Discopathe Montpellier Yesterday (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

After a mysterious global blackout, only one can remember the Beatles and their songs: Jack. The unsuccessful street musician to date is now becoming famous in no time with the Beatles songs. Yesterday was directed by Danny Boyle, who received an Oscar for Slumdog Millionaire as a director back in 2009. The soundtrack to the film features the biggest Beatles hits, sung by leading actor Himesh Patel (Jack). Richard Curtis (including Love Actually) has also contributed to the film as a producer.

What better way for a re-issue label to celebrate his 100th release than to give it to a record of new music. We couldn’t resist when the artist is Official Be With Family Member Kenny Dickenson and when the music is his lovely, lovely score to French-Vietnamese artist Mai Hua's 2020 documentary film “Les Rivières”. If you enjoy the more minimal, intimate piano of the likes of Nils Frahm or John Carroll Kirby’s solo work, you’re certain to fall for this beautiful album.Taking six years to make, Mai’s film explores what happened when she brought her dying grandmother to France, pulling together four generations of women from the same family. Kenny’s score accompanies all the pretty things, sad things, dirty, beautiful, happy, broken and reborn moments of these women’s experiences.
Gold Dust: Live At The Royalty, featuring highlights from Sandy Denny’s final concert, is making its debut on vinyl. Recorded just months before her untimely death in 1978, this special release attempts to present the record that Sandy might have released had she lived. The concert features a career-spanning set that includes songs taken from her band Fotheringay, Sandy’s solo albums (The North Star Grassman and the Ravens, Sandy, and Rendezvous), as well as her work with Fairport Convention on the albums Unhalfbricking and Rising for the Moon. This final performance perfectly captures the folk-rock sound with a stellar group of musicians including Trevor Lucas, Jerry Donahue, Pat Donaldson, Dave Mattacks, among others. It showcases the quality of Sandy’s songwriting throughout her career and includes her signature composition, “Who Knows Where the Time Goes?” – which was the first song she ever wrote – and “No More Sad Refrains” which closed her final album. Remastered from the restored tapes, this release features Sandy’s spoken introductions to each song, comprehensive sleeve notes, and brand-new artwork designed specifically for this release.
Själen is a Stockholm-based duo consisting of Johan Jan Jonason and Mats Andberg.Spirit High is their debut album, arriving after the band’s previous Studio Barnhusappearances with 2020’s heartfelt ballad “Älska mig” as well as a single release of thisalbum’s title track in summer 2021.On Spirit High, multi-instrumentalist Andberg together with album co-producer AxelBoman weave a shimmering lo-fi tapestry that frontman Jonason vigorously tears apartusing simple iconic phrases delivered with a unique singing voice – naïvely desperate, delicately forceful. No posing, just transparency! No nuances, just the pure expression ofSjälen! Out December 10 on Studio Barnhus.
City of Mirrors is a bold new collection of music from Chicago-based alt-Latinx band Dos Santos, which is comprised of bandleader / singer / lyricst / guitarist / keyboardist Alex Chavez, drummer Daniel Villarreal, percussionist Peter “Maestro” Vale, bassist Jaime Garza, and guitarist/multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Nathan Karagianis.Cinematic in its journey, the album was produced by multimedia artist and long-time friend of the band Elliot Bergman (NOMO, Wild Belle), and reflects sounds from across the Americas combined with Chavez’s compelling poetic narratives. Its 13 tracks consolidate the band’s unique identities, creative and cultural roots, and their penchant for honoring traditional Latinx music with contemporary compositional expressions and production techniques.
Tetrao Urogallus presents their eponymous proto-metal, psychedelic funk debut on Color Red with “Tetrao Ugogallus.” The concept of the band was born as the title is Latin for ‘wood grouse’ and all subsequent tracks are Latin terms for flora and fauna. The mystical sounds in “Tetrao Urogallus” reflect a gloomy forest atmosphere through which the capercaillie makes its daily rounds. Collaborators David Nesselhauf and Dennis Rux have worked together in several projects and the two are able to pursue their love for dark sounds, fuzzy guitars, and captivating brass sections in Tetrao Urogallus.
