The Tenderlonious-helmed UK neo-jazz super-group Ruby Rushton has a new album in the works. While we'll have to wait until April to hear that set, titled "Ironside", 22a has been good enough to sling out this taster single featuring two tracks that have made the cut. A-side "Eleven Grapes" is particularly potent, with a jaunty, ear-catching flute and electric piano solo ushering in a breezy, morning-fresh trip into Latin-tinged jazz-funk fusion. Over on side B, "One Mo' Dram" is a hushed and evocative affair, with starry, Herbie Hancock style solos and atmospheric cymbals introducing an organic, all-live hybrid broken beat/jazz workout.
