LSN's music is always constructed with a real sense of foreboding and plenty of textural girt. That is the case again here with some enacting and snapping drum work and extra heavy mic work. But that's not to say the sound is austere - they still draw you in with enticing rhythms and structures that you want to gaze at. 'Power Shift' (feat Flowdan) is a top opener with arching bass and badman bars while 'Devolve' is more angsty and unsettled with its broken beats. 'Trust' is icy and full of late-night tension then LSN & Youngsta's 'End Theme' (feat ZAMEEN-A) closes with some lush string sounds over neck-snapping beats.LSNMisuse Of PowerSentry

Charlotte Leclerc talks loud and fast, she’s at full speed, at a heat of 10,000 degrees and gives off a very pleasant warmth - if you stay at the right distance. She’s like the sun: if you get too close, you’ll burn up straight away. Speaking of which, Charlotte has distanced herself, and not on purpose either. When coming home at night, instead of getting into the role of laboring musician, she chose instead to make music a bit like you’d smoke one last cigarette before bed. The story of this album began when I asked her if she made music by herself. I knew she played regularly with other people in bands, but nothing about any potential solo musical activity. She replied, “When I get home late at night, before going to bed, I like to switch on my old Vermona drum machine and my synths. I record stuff that isn’t songs, that I forget all about and don’t listen to again because it must be garbage.” It didn’t take more than that for me to really want to listen to it. After several months of enquiring, she accepted to send me all these “bits of music” as she calls them. I loved them straight away. Very loose and free tracks, a music made for no one in particular. No format, no structures, just creation sprinkled over daily life. Moments like these are often forgotten, lost in your head, which is overcrowded with day-to-day stuff. But in this case, she managed to save them, preserving them in time thanks to the record button. Style-wise, I’m not sure what Charlotte Leclerc’s “bits of music” are. Avant-exotica? Ambient-funk? Maybe. However, if you’re wondering if there’s any emotion in there, I’d answer as she would, “Yeah, loaaaads.”

Wonderwheel Recordings est fier d’annoncer la réédition tant attendue de l’album Amansara de Chancha Vía Circuito (alias Pedro Canale), sorti en 2014 et épuisé depuis plus de 5 ans ! Issu à l’origine de la célèbre scène de cumbia digitale de Buenos Aires, Chancha Vía Circuito a notoirement brisé ces frontières pour forger des fusions sans précédent entre les rythmes brésiliens, la harpe paraguayenne, le mysticisme andin et la solitude du folklore argentin – le tout traité à travers sa propre lentille électronique. Le son de Chancha est sans conteste vraiment unique et instantanément reconnaissable, au point qu’il est devenu une référence clé pour toute une génération d’artistes. Si elle a une sorte de statut culte dans les micro-cercles de la musique électronique, la musique de Chancha Vía Circuito a trouvé un large attrait en dehors de l’avant-garde, notamment grâce à son magnifique remix de « Quimey Neuquén » de José Larralde, fortement mis en avant en 2013 dans le cadre de la dernière saison de la série télévisée Breaking Bad. Les fans de la série se souviennent sans doute de Walter White enterrant ses millions dans le désert, accompagné par les grooves larges et doux de Chancha Vía Circuito. Amansara est une progression naturelle de cette variété spéciale de musique électronique d’Amérique du Sud concoctée par Chancha. Le single principal, « Coplita », fait appel à la voix envoûtante de Miram Garcia, tandis que « Sueno En Paraguay » fusionne les sons du folklore andin avec des bleeps, blips et des tambours qui martèlent, d’une manière qui semble tout à fait naturelle et ordonnée. Sur « Jardines », le chant de Lido Pimienta se mêle à de puissants synthés, des percussions et des cloches pour former un morceau inoubliable, tandis que « Tarocchi » et « Guajaca » accélèrent la cadence jusqu’à atteindre un son deep, une piste de danse située loin au milieu de la forêt pluviale. L’illustration d’Amansara a été réalisée par la peintre folkloriste psychédélique argentine Paula Duro.

For the latest missive on his surprisingly under-appreciated Blank Mind label, Sam Purcell has turned to rising star Lack, AKA Manchester-based producer Charlie Foy. The EP's three tracks were recorded at various points between 2015 and 2019, initially on his laptop during train journeys and later in his studio. It's an interesting collection of cuts all told, with Foy wrapping deep and spacey chords, bubbly melodies and introspective electronics around off-kilter rhythms that draw influence from a variety of styles. We're particularly enjoying the deep and percussive loneliness of "Satin" and the quiet dancefloor positivity of "Elementary Means", though the whole EP is well worth checking.
