''URGENT: THE SAFE TRIP ORGANISATION HAS TAKEN TO THE WATER IN A BID TO SPREAD THEIR CODED MUSICAL MESSAGES FAR AND WIDE. THEY HAVE RECRUITED A YOING OPERATIVE KNOWN AS DAZION, A KEEN WINDSURFER, TO DEVELOP A METHOD OF BROADCASTING THEIR ADDICTIVE AND MIND-ALTERING MUSICAL MISSIVES WHEREVER THERE IS A SUITABLE BODY OF WATER.

OUR OPERATIVES TRACKED DAZION TO A REMOTE SPOT ON THE DUTCH COAST, WHERE HE WAS SPOTTED TRIALLING THIS NEW TECHNOLOGY WITH HIS FAVOURED F2 DRAGON BOARD. AS HE RODE THE CHOPPY WAVES, WE WERE ABLE RECORD THE RHYTHMICAL ELECTRONIC MUSIC BROADCASTING FROM WITHIN THE BROAD. THIS MUSIC FEATURED THE KIND OF TRIBALISTIC, DELAY-LADEN DRUMS, SWELLING ELECTRONICS AND EXOTIC MELODIC REFRAINS THAT ARE KNOWN TO INSPIRE FRENZIED DANCING IN MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC. WE HAVE CHRISTENED THE RECORDING DRAGON WAVE'.

WE LATER TRACKED DAZION TO A LIGHT INDUSTRIAL UNIT ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF AMSTERDAM. THERE HE CONTINUED TO TINKER WITH THE TECHNOLOGY, TESTING IT OUT BY BROADCASTING ANOTHER MUSICAL COMPOSITION. THIS WAS MORE POIGNANT AND MELANCHOLIC IN TONE, UTILISING SPAACEY ELECTRONIC MELODIES, GENTLY BOBBING CHORDS, HEART-ACHING GUITAR FLOURISHES AND A TOUGH BUT BROKEN RHYTHM TRACK. THE RECORDING - CODE NAME VX LTD' - HAD A HUGE IMPACT ON US EMOTIONALLY AND EVEN REDUCED ONE OPERATIVE TO TEARS.''

April 2007. Moments captured and repeated in raw mono. Contact mic, cassette loops + cassette amplifier.Originally released as two private edition cassettes and then reworked for a CD release on iDEAL in 2008, Kassettmusik still stands out as one of Dan Johanssons’ most confounding and bold moments. Upon its release, the extremely minimal and restrained approach on the recording took a quite unexpected turn compared to the brutish harsh noise and ‘Killing For’ endeavours Sewer Election was known for at the time. Crude cassette loops of sparse electronics and body sounds with the fidelity of the disintegrated magnetic tape becoming an important piece of the two side-long compositions.Pressed in 500 copies. Insert with liner notes by Chris Sienko. Vinyl master by Viktor Ottosson.
Hailing out of Montreal, 00:AM follow up their killer first release with a four track VA e.p. setting their stall out as a label to watch in 2018. The Hutchin Crew open up proceedings with an ethereal and hypnotic cut, coupling sweeping pads with dreamy keys. Next up, DJ OK takes things darker layering thudding toms and atmospheric strings with a sci-fi sampled spoken word.On the B side, Cromie & Iron Curtis let the pounding bass sit centre stage interspersed with otherwordly synthwork and that high hat fizz. Finally, Science Fiction steers things on a new wave tip offering up a down-tempo french vocal tinged closer to round off this stellar e.p..
Bokeh Versons lasso a dusky set of surf guitar-meets-bossa nova-in-dub styles from Martin Werner’s Répéter - think John Wayne lost in a Brazilian desert with Mike Cooper and Sun Araw‘Bad Twang’ follows on from 2017’s ‘In Fine Style’ LP with a more conceptual lean, employing his self-taught surf guitar tekkers with a DIY conflation of compatible styles whose sum outweighs their components. His conception of cowboy exotica or rancher dub practically imagines the soundtrack to a Tarantino or Jodorowsky flick set in some parched, purgatorial landscape where various genres criss-cross the desert in heat hazy licks and languorous grooves, shimmering like elusive fata morganas.
We won't make the obvious joke about buses - you know, the one about waiting ages for an Autechre album and then two turn up pretty much at the same time. But we will say this. If Plus, the second of Sean Booth and Rob Brown's two albums to drop within a fortnight of each other after a lengthy absence, were a bus, it wouldn't be headed out on any recognisable route that we know about. You might find the odd bit of scenery that feels vaguely familiar - the tension-laden strings of 'ii pre esc' or the scrambled drum & bass machinations of 'X4', but in the pair's hands they are splintered and re-assembled very much in their own image, one foot in the frenetic exhortations of electro and the other deeply planted in the land of industrial experimentation. Closing track 'TM1 might bear a slight resemblance to the squelchy acid of Drexciya, for instance, but its occasionally four-to-the-floor beats stop and start with a wonderfully disorientating playfulness. Brave and original, as ever, this is not for the faint hearted but at the same time takes you places you never thought you'd encounter.
