En 1964 et 1966, lorsque Serge Gainsbourg participe à deux enregistrements publics à la Maison de la Radio, il est incontestablement la star de la soirée. S’achève alors, selon ses propres mots, sa “période bleue”, entre chanson rive-gauche, influences du jazz et rythmes exotiques. Il est le maître du clair-obscur et du double sens, poète à l’ironie mordante.Dans ces huit chansons émouvantes, seul au piano ou accompagné d’une guitare et d’une contrebasse, Gainsbourg endosse le rôle de l’amoureux déçu comme du cynique désabusé.
