RETROSPECTIVE FOR LOVE Random Activities Of A Heart Wormfood

Retrospective For Love is a satisfying new sound for a fresh generation of soul lovers. Hailing from the sun-drenched Mediterranean island of Sicily, vocalist, MC and producer Davide Shorty had a vision to bring back the love and has gathered a tight knit family of similarly soul-centric musicians from his homeland, plus UK-based additions including Parisian co-vocalist Leslie Phillips. With Retrospective For Love, a special force in music was born.

Debut long player 'Random Activities of a Heart', released 10th March 2017 on Wormfood Records, weaves together undeniable, infectious melodies stretching across the stratosphere of Hip-Hop, Soul, and Jazz, whilst adding a little 21st century electronic mastery into the mix.

"Impressions of countries like Afghanistan are dominated by negative narratives such as wars in western media, humanity is portrayed in often narrow and sad stories of survival, yet the human spirit when it turns its attention to the arts reveal much deeper levels of culture, creativity and beauty. It is these endeavours that can and do build bridges between cultures and foster empathy, understanding and ultimately friendship. These are the stories that should be told. And so Afghan-born Farhot, now residing in Hamburg, is one such storyteller."45Live

American singer-songwriters Phoebe Bridgers and Conor Oberst are two accomplished musicians in their own right, with the latter largely known for his role in Bright Eyes and other bands, with an enviable solo discography too, while the former, after a slew of singles, released her debut album Stranger In The Alps in 2017. Together the pair form Better Oblivion Community Center, who recently scored some airtime on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert with a beaty rendition of their dust-kicking vocal number "Dylan Thomas". The album delivers a bevy of duets and folk-tales with references to '90s pop rock and grunge never that far off, and it's best heard on "Dominos" and the cutesy synth-play of " Exception To The Rule".
MF DOOM is the man in the iron mask. The most mysterious figure in hip-hop has also become one of the most popular, supplying beats and rhymes for Gorillaz, De La Soul, Madlib, Danger Mouse, and Wu-Tang Clan, and drawing praise from heavyweights like Just Blaze, Nas, and Mos Def. Since 2002, DOOM has released numerous volumes of Special Herbs, one of the longest-running instrumental series in hip-hop history. Now, the first two volumes in the acclaimed series are available on vinyl for the first time in years. With obscure loops and dusty samples galore, Special Herbs Vol. 1 & 2 is a must-have for any DOOM fan or hip-hop head.
