Augenwasser The Big Swim - dispo au Discopathe Montpellier

With his third album, The Big Swim, due out in December 2022 on Bongo Joe records, Augenwasser ventures once again into the paths of synth wave exploration with a pop feel. Still laced with the folk textures of his early days, he nevertheless develops a dance approach that can at times be akin to melancholic drone. His music takes you to an imaginary, dark club, lulled by a haunting rhythm, surrounded by the fumes of the night, where it is possible to indulge in that quiet voice that has already confessed that it is too late but will never stop repeating its soft, cold poetry. "You'll realize one sad morning / some things change without a warning. In the same way that we realize as a child that things are bigger than they seem, so we discover the music of Augenwasser. A simple and disturbing melody, beautiful and sincere, declined to excess, which grows with each track, as a stream turns into a lake, a music that builds a world of broken papers and enchanted ideas.

Recorded by Randy Williams in 1997 at home studio in San Francisco, California, after a two year stay at Camp Darby military base near Pisa, Italy and some occasional off-duty visits to Giancarlo Lobel in Rome and Marina di Pisa. The encounters made in that period were inspiring for Williams to create a strange and personal style upon his return to the United States. Released and distributed privately in Italy and USA to group of artists and appreciators as compact disc after spectacles, and as music library soundtrack.
Anthems for misty trottoirs and empty clubs.Milan W's new lp is here and it sounds like a comedown-classic which is way too funky to be an ambient record and has the power to cut as deep as any decent delta blues album. His early nineties exotica creeps up on you in a good way. These sounds let your melted brain walk towards every light you can find in that dark tunnel. Every jam on this lp is well constructed and a bit more complex then usual. No worries, tracks are moving with their own elegant logic. Excess is trimmed away and the crispy rhythm programming is pulling you deeper and deeper into the melodic fog of heavenly layered synths. A certain songlike chemistry is never far away in these jams.Sweet memories of early Warp-classics and Rephlex good old freshness come to mind (think early Autechre, Bochum Welt,...). The feel is less krauty and much more UK but definitely Milan’s. Digesting the old into something completely fresh. Ghosts of new beat are lingering on. Slowly but clearly Milan W slips away from the bar towards the floor. The groove is more uptempo and these tracks are built to make you move in both ways. You can definitely start smelling the club in here. Smooth but raw and pretty far from any big room stylistics. Ocean-dwelling atmosphere included.
BEAK> were formed in January 2009 by three Bristol musicians, Billy Fuller, Matt Williams and Geoff Barrow. The band have very strict guidelines governing the recording and writing process of their work. The music was recorded live in one room with no overdubs or repair, only using edits to create arrangements. All tracks were written over a twelve-day session in SOA Studio’s, Bristol. The album is released on Invada Records in the UK and Europe & on Ipecac in the United States.Sometimes a band can be no more than the sum of it’s parts, but BEAK> are an equation in which it’s impossible to define equivalents or totals. Instead the meeting of three talent’s form a foundation from which idea’s assimilate and propagate. Those talents are:Billy Fuller. Reared in Bristol, on an aural diet of anything and everything, facilitated later by his time working in the cities top independent record shop Replay Records, and also playing with handfuls of bands – including Invada’s first signing: Fuzz Against Junk, as well as Massive Attack, Robert Plant, and Malakai. Billy is BEAK>’S thoughtful pulse; his bass a forceful origin for their superlative narrative arcs.Matt Williams. Picked up a Yamaha keyboard aged three and never looked back, as Team Brick creates dissonance that immediately elucidates free forming thought, and impacts heavily on BEAK>’S rolling landscape. He enjoys playing air drums whilst cycling, singing lines from a favourite Latin prayer and doesn’t understand the music he makes himself.Geoff Barrow. Musician and producer born near Bristol. Best known for forming and producing popular music group Portishead and part owner of the independent record label Invada Records . Commenting on working in BEAK> "its really good to create music under different conditions than your used too.”"
